The State of OpenTelemetry: Vision, Roadmap, and Reality | Dotan Horovits, Principal Evangelist @ Logz.io
OpenTelemetry is the second most active project in the CNCF to date! And it’s got quite a bit of updates from KubeCon, OTel Community Day and more.
In this talk, Dotan will explore the vision of OpenTelemetry, what’s coming in the near future and what is the current state of the various projects comprising OpenTelemetry (across telemetry signal types, API, SDK, collector and more), some of which are not even GA yet.
This session provides a good understanding of what to expect from OpenTelemetry and how to get started and, for seasoned users, keeps you in the OTel loop with the main updates to help you navigate.
Leading OpenTelemetry Adoption in Your Company | Michael Haberman, CTO @ Aspecto
It’s a common theme -- You’re the OpenTelemetry champ, you go between teams, trying to implement it, and you are partially successful, so there’s incomplete data and no real value. Things are just not moving as you wanted, and maybe, eventually, you drop it altogether.
It’s challenging to have a great success story with insufficient data quality and when not everyone is on board.
So how do you start? How do you talk to all of them? How can you convince them this is worthwhile?
In this session, you will learn how to methodically roll out OpenTelemetry in your system to show value and get organizational buy-in. We will explore which metrics to measure, pitfalls and best practices, and how to build your case to convince coworkers and leadership.
You will leave this talk with a playbook on leading (and winning) OpenTelemetry adoption in your organization.
