4:15 AM	Preventing Security Tech Debt in Containers and Kubernetes	Speaker: Tess Davis - Senior Solutions Engineer, Snyk In the recent State of Kubernetes New Zealand for 2022, it was found that the biggest barrier to the adoption of containers and Kubernetes after the well-known skills shortage was a lack of knowledge about securing containers and Kubernetes. 23% of respondents were aware they had shipped containers with known vulnerabilities, and it is likely the actual number of known vulnerabilities being shipped is much higher. This talk will start by covering container and Kubernetes security fundamentals to help address the security knowledge barrier to adoption. For Cloud Native Applications, speed is key. Security issues that make their way into deployment often become security technical debt monitored but continuously deferred. We will share some tips for choosing safer base images, user layers up front and how to find and fix issues early, long before container libraries and Kubernetes configurations make their way into deployment.
4:50 AM	Microsoft Azure Routing and Firewalls	Speaker: Joerg Micheel Deployment of firewalls in the cloud inherently depends on maintaining control over routing in the cloud. Azure has a particular mix of challenges when it comes to routing, which is compounded by a lack of decent documentation. This talk will provide practical insights into the inner workings of Azure Routing and customer deployment experiences. The talk will make a case for the transition to cloud-native security as the only practical means to scaling a cloud presence while maintaining a security posture.
