Merge Forward is a community-driven CNCF initiative and home to seven diversity groups. Our mission is to build supportive networks and safe spaces for communities from diverse backgrounds and their allies to exchange ideas, learn from each other, foster mentorship, and create lasting connections (and even friendships) across the globe.
Through these global communities, we aim to increase representation, participation, and contributions from underrepresented groups—who often face challenges growing their technical careers compared to overrepresented groups—to create a more equitable and resilient open source community.
For community groups focused on disabilities, we also work to increase awareness and accessibility by regularly publishing best practices docs.

Our goal is to build a more diverse and sustainable cloud native community where everyone feels welcome and seen. By creating strong, supportive networks and connecting community members, we aim to increase representation and visibility across the ecosystem. Over time, this will naturally attract more talented individuals from underrepresented communities.
